Year 5 and 6 took part in a variety of thought provoking workshops led by the Show Racism the Red Card team. The aim was to familiarise young people with some of the causes and consequences of racism. To enable the children to respect the differences between people and encourage them to play an active role in a growing multi-racial and multi-cultural society.
The children discussed issues involving the origins of racism, experiences of racism and racism within football.
As well as classroom workshops we were also lucky enough to get a visit from John Anderson an ex-Newcastle United player! John led a football training session for the children and arranged a variety of football matches in the afternoon.
