On Wednesday, our year 5 Pupil Voice councillors Gemma and Thomas, went with Mrs Jepson to Swallwell Bank to plant poppy seeds to commemorate World War 1. Here’s what they got up to:
We met up with Schools from the area to plant poppy seeds to remember the soldiers who fought for us in the first world war. We met with our chair of governess Peter Craig, who help us to sprinkle poppy seeds on Swallwell Bank along with other children from Washingwell, Parochial, Front Street and others. We met a lovely lady called Julie Bharbra who works for Groundworks who helped us plant the seeds. We enjoyed sprinkling the seeds to remember the soldiers and look forward to seeing the poppies grow. We hope you notice the beautiful poppies as you pass Swalwell Bank this summer.
