Today the children in Key Stage 2 have taken part in a variety of workshops to find out more about different religions, faiths and cultures of the world.

The children found the session about Islam fascinating and took part in mature discussions and debates about some of the prejudices facing Muslims today.

They learnt about how and where Islam was founded and what the main beliefs and practices of Muslims are. The children were shown video clips taken from a mosque and listened to the prayer call. They were able to find out more about the Qur’an and looked at artefacts such as: prayer mats, prayer beads, prayer hat/shawl and a Qiblah.

The children were like sponges soaking up all the facts, so enthusiastic and interested, asking relevant and meaningful questions.

An excellent day!!
