We have all gone a little butterfly and caterpillar crazy in Reception over the last few weeks!
It started when the postman brought us a pot with tiny caterpillars in. Inside, there was all the food they would need to grow big….and they did, indeed grow big! We watched them grow and change and our teachers were very impressed to hear our thoughtful observations and questions. One very clever girl even looked in the non-fiction books in the classroom to find the answer to her super question. You will see her research in action in the photographs below…
Please take time to look at the photos as they show us taking our fascination of the caterpillars and butterflies into many curriculum areas: Maths, Understanding the World, Writing, Reading, Expressive Arts and Design and more!
Today, we felt that it was time to let our butterflies go into their natural habitat and, although we were sad to say good-bye, we knew that is where they ought to be.
Goodbye and Good Luck to our little symmetrical friends!
