We’ve had a great time over the past week turning our old socks into sock monkeys to take with us when we are evacuated to Eden Camp in Friday! In times of war there was money for luxuries so people had to make do with what they already had and create something new out old things.
The process was long but we got there in the end… all mucking in together and doing our bit for each other!! True WWII spirit!
We’ve learnt various stitches (running and overstitch) and how to attach parts together. We’ve also learnt the correct way to start and finish sewing with three little stitches.
When each monkey was finished we gave it a name, tied a ribbon round it’s neck and sang Happy Birthday!!!
