Year 6

Mrs Holden (Deputy Head & Class Teacher), Mrs Maynard (Teaching Assistant)
And so the final year at Clover Hill Primary School begins. This year will be packed with adventures such as our outward bound residential visit (this year to Winmarleigh Hall in Lancashire), as well as learning those essential academic skills to equip our children for their future learning when they move on from Clover Hill.

This is my third year back in Year 6 after 5 years of teaching in KS1. Mrs Maynard works in Year 6 each morning providing us with valuable support with our basic skills. We both started Clover Hill together way back in 2001 (some 17 years ago) and share the same passion and commitment to our children and school community.

I am excited about teaching this fabulous year group and, most importantly, getting to know and guide the children through this exciting and challenging chapter of their education.

Our aim is to make Year 6 a wonderful, challenging and exciting time for our children. I’m sure they will embrace these challenges, responsibilities and privileges of being the oldest children in our school.

If you have any questions about your child’s education or need any advice, please do not hesitate to contact me or another member of the Upper KS2 Team.

KS2 will be walking down to St Mary’s Church, Whickham, on the morning of Tuesday 19th December for a carol service rehearsal.  The children will need to be dressed appropriately (warm coat, hat, sensible shoes).  If we are unable to attend church on this day due to...

Year 6 Engineers of the Future!

What an amazing morning we had - building bridges! Hacksaw, nails, hammers, glue-guns and saws filled the classroom... and a first aid kit (just in case)!  We followed our plans that we made last week and made changes to our original ideas where they were needed. We...

Thank You School Association

In a Literacy survey carried out recently, the children in Year 6 said that they would like to develop a reading area in their classroom. A place to go to read, reflect and relax. Well, thanks to the generosity of our School Association and a kind donation from a...
