Reception High Frequency Words
Being able to read words on sight enables children to read with greater fluency and understanding. Therefore, we teach children to read the following words as a whole without blending to work them out.
We introduce one word per week and return to it a number of times before sending it home for practice as homework. In addition to this, children take home these words as Word Walls which ask them to practise at home and expect them to be able to read by the end of the year.
