Career-related learning in primary schools is about broadening children's horizons, challenging stereotypes and helping them develop the skills and sense of self that will enable them to reach their full potential.
Our curriculum includes activities designed to give our children a wide range of experiences of education, transitions and the world of work. Early career-related learning can have a lasting impact on pupils' perceptions of different occupations and how these link to learning in school. Research shows us that starting career-related learning early is important. Pupils start to adopt stereotypes based on gender, ethnicity and social background from an early age. Such stereotypes can go on to influence career and subject choices.
By embedding career-related learning into our curriculum, we aim to broaden your pupils’ aspirations and challenge stereotypes they may hold; this may ultimately have a positive impact on their future life choices. Career-related learning at Clover Hill is not about setting pupils down a specific path but ensuring they understand that there are many options open to them.
