STEMFEST in SPACE 2024

Published: 4 Oct '24

Today, we took a step away from our usual Friday activities to a learn about Space with STEM SPACE 2024.

We learned lots of fantastic facts from Dr Robert Massey about exploring the Solar System to find other life forms on other planets- one being the same chemical found in penguin poo is found in the atmosphere of Venus! Who knew?!

We also listened to James Brine from Airbus Defence Spacem and Dr Vicky Fawcett from Newcastle University, who taught us about black holes: how they are formed and how they have a huge gravitational force that nothing will ever escape them!

We also got to hear about the experiences Jim Christensen from the Aldrin Family Foundation and Eryn Andrews - a NASA engineer.

The children gained a lot from this day that will be able to develop their writing when we come to write about planets and in our Space topic  in Science. Â
